He was born in Mexico City in 1955. He entered the National Music School in 1973 and in 1975 he started to play the contrabass with the group that played with Angel Parra, Violeta Parra's son.

He founded the group "La Nopalera", participating as a composer and performer of the four records the group made. In 1977 he starts as a soloist, participating as well in the group "EI 26". Since 1 979 he works at Radio Educacion (cultural radio station).

In 1982 he recorded his first phonograph as a soloist, "El Corrido", which is two texts of the writer Renato Leduc with the music of Marcial Alejandro. In 1983 he recorded his first material, published by Pentagrama Records, "Marcial Alejandro". He participated in the OTI International Festival, 1 985, Mexico and Spain, in which, his song "EI Fandango aqui", performed by the Mexican singer Eugenia Leon, was the winner of the first place in the national as well as the international phase in Seville, Spain.

Marcial Alejandro has composed music for diverse television and radio programs, as well as for pictures, one of them nominated for the Ariel reward in Mexico "Morir en el Golfo", for best original music.

In 1993 he recorded his second material, "Aqui estoy", also published by Pentagrama Records.

In 1994 he started a tour in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.

In Buenos Aires he was invited by Silvio Rodriguez to perform at the Coliseo Theater. He also visited the cities of Rosario, Neuquen and Santa Rosa (Pampa) in Argentina, as well as Colonia in Uruguay, and Santiago de Chile.

In april, 2004 he has just launched his third album "Sin Cruz", edited by Discos Espiral and invited by Alfonso Arau for his film "Zapata" to act the paper of "trovador".

Marcial Alejandro's songs have been recorded many singers, such as Margie Bermejo, Eugenia Leon, Maru Enriquez, Tania Libertad, Betsy Pecanins, Amparo Ochoa, Dos Mujeres, and also by the Japanese singer Nobuyo Yagi, singing in Spanish with the Japanese group Havatampa, the Argentines Litto Nebbia and Litto Vitale and the Dominican Sonia Silvestre, among others.
